  marmot: Notice it's '8-10,000' years ago, a 2,000 year window because it can't be pinned down with extreme accuracy. Nevertheless, it's a civilization IN MESOPOTAMIA in a time period that roughly equates with the bible's story.

  sir82: Who said there was "no salt water"? It had to have been a different composition; by necessity it was. After the flood and the passage of much time, of course different bodies of water in different places would take on different chemical compositions, and the sea life that live in them adapt to their climate over successive generations. Ever heard of Darwin's finches?

  Answers:
  1: It rained for 40 days, but I think the floodwaters stayed much longer.
  2: Not long I imagine. Then again, god said 'every living thing' would be destroyed.
  3: Not at all probably. Then again if there was a global flood that altered topography and created oceans, then saltwater oceans as we know them didn't exist yet.
  4: Pretty much all researchers agree that civilization began to record their history only less than 5,000 years ago, and for some reason the humans in the thousands of years before that didn't.
  5: I don't know what dates researchers placed on the artifacts they discoved there.
  6: It's called the Berring Straight (I think, not sure), anyway, it's the land passage between Russia and Alaska that has since broken off. That's why native Americans look similar to Mongolians, a mixture of western European and Oriental.

  Maybe Jeramy has different ideas, maybe not.

  I found a couple. The first appears to be a life story from someone who owns a mailbox company, correct me if I'm wrong.

  Which is perfectly fine. It's apparent to pretty much anyone that they're quoting him because he's in the scientific community and has an opinion about his colleagues, not because of any sympathy to creationism. Anything anyone says in public is a fact, and doesn't need permission to be published in support of a certain cause.

  Yes, but in this instance they didn't isolate his words in a way that changed their meaning. THAT would be a misquote.

I mean, the quote in question was merely a statement of what he believed to be a fact, or else he wouldn't have said it. There was nothing in the quote (and everyone has the right to make accurate quotes under the fair use doctrine), that even remotely suggested that he was pro-creationism or anything like that. It was a true, in context quote. I can understand why he wouldn't want to be associated with creationists, etc., but his actions, more like a little tantrum, were unusual. I think the WTS just thought it was easier to edit the digital edition to avoid a controversy, but even that was a favor. For Rama Singh to also demand an apology is laughable and goes against principles of free speech and reporting.

  Celebrating Holidays Should Be a "Conscience Matter"

  the witnesses seem to love to make things a "conscience matter" and then just shame people into doing whatever it is they want them to do anyway.

  so, why haven't they done this with the holidays?

  there are plenty of scriptures in their own bible they could use to justify making it a conscience matter, yet the last i knew, celebrating christmas was still a disfellowshipping offense.

  Christmas isn't a disfellowshipping offense, and neither is taking blood. They are, however, viewed as acts of disassociation, no committee required. Besides blatant ones like Xmas and Halloween, many holidays actually are conscience matters, including Thanksgiving and others . . . but you will be looked at suspiciously.
